Undercover was founded in 1993 by Jun Takahashi whilst he attended Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, alongside the famous Nigo. His clothing label is driven by the motto “We make noise, not clothes.” Takahashi translates the subversion and disruption of punk rock into fashion with his blend of bondage, gothic, baroque, and grotesque aesthetics embodying the spirit of rebellion in fashion
This beautiful pair of denim was released in the AutumnWinter 2010 “Avakareta Life” collection; the collection title translates to “A Broken Life” in English. This concept explored dystopian ideas and the balance between destruction and creation, a recurring motif in Takahashi’s work. Coming in a light grey wash, the denim features a intricate sequin embroidery, showcasing lyrics from Joy Division’s Atmosphere. In good condition with some discoloration, but maintains good overall quality
